Obtaining evidence
Austrian civil courts don’t take action spontaneously but solely on grounds of petitions. There is no state authority in Austria that obtains evidence in cases of civil litigation (unlike for example, the criminal investigation department in case of penal proceedings). This is solely the job of professional detectives. It behooves only them to work with the client by obtaining and furnishing proof that will help the clients in court.
